Ink-Resist Arwork

Here is the process for creating ink-resist artwork:

  1. Start with a throw-away watercolor painting (one that didn't work for you), to provide color shapes.
  2. Cover the shapes you want to preserve with white tempera or poster paint (same thing) & let dry.
  3. Flow waterproof ink over the whole picture & let dry. I have used black, brown and blue ink.
  4. Wash off the entire surface with sponge & water. Protected (tempera) shape will be preserved.
  5. Optional - Go in with ink pen and pick out details.
