Paintings - Spring 2002

Jazzman      Acrylic     2002

"Self Portrait in Blue"     Acrylic     2002
Done from an old family photograph of myself at about age 3, sitting among parked
cars at our family's summer camp in the Allegheny Mountains near Oil City Pennsylvania

"Self Portrait in Yellow"     Acrylic     2002
An obvious companion to the preceding work, but less successful I think.
Proves the old saying: "Quit while you're ahead."

"The Archers"     Acrylic     2002
From another old photo at the same summer camp, about the same time.
The archer holding the bow is my cousin, and this painting now hangs in his home.

"Old Gas Station"     Acrylic     2002
Edward Hopper appeared to me in a dream and said, "Paint an old gas station."
So, here's an actual Daytona Beach gas station @ Palmetto & Orange, with a few artistic liberties taken.

"When Pigs Fly ... in Kimonos"     Acrylic     2002
On the other hand, sometimes it is possible to repeat a previous idea with some success.
